Camp Kirby KIT Program

Kirby Intern Team

Kirby Intern Team (KIT)

KIT is Camp Kirby’s comprehensive leadership development program designed specifically for our interns who aspire to become future counselors. This volunteer program is designed for campers entering 12th grade (and who are between the ages of 17 and 18), and who have already completed the CIT program in the previous summer. Through a combination of hands-on experience, guided mentorship, and specialized training, KIT equips participants with the essential skills needed to lead confidently and create a positive, supportive environment for campers.

Interns in the KIT program learn valuable lessons in communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and responsibility. They gain real-world experience by assisting counselors, leading activities, and practicing decision-making in a supportive setting. KITs not only build leadership skills but also foster personal growth, confidence, and a deep connection to the Camp Kirby community. Applications for our Intern Program will open on November 1st, and will close on February 1st.

Interns will complete a required training week during Session 1 (June 28th-July 3rd), and then complete 2-3 volunteer sessions beyond that.

Camp Kirby interns are volunteers, and you can earn service hours after successful completion of the program. Interns can earn up to 12 hours a day for volunteer weeks (not including the training week). There is no registration fee for the KIT Program.
