Camp Fire Samish Strategic Plan
2025-2030In 2025, The Camp Fire Samish Board of Directors approved this strategic plan to guide us through the year 2030. It aims to keep the well-being of the youth we serve at the forefront while also strengthening and securing the long-term health of Camp Fire Samish.
Goal 1: Provide high-quality, outdoor based programming for young people at Camp Kirby
Strategy 1: Operate Overnight Camp
Strategy 2: Operate Day Camp
Strategy 3: Operate Outdoor School
Strategy 4: Build Community Partnerships & Other Events
Strategy 5: Strengthen and improve our Leadership Training Programs
Our primary focus will continue to be the young people we serve. We plan to strengthen and grow our Camp Kirby programs to serve the growing need for outdoor programming in Northwest Washington.
Goal 2: Upgrade and maintain facilities at Camp Kirby
Strategy 1: Develop Capital Campaign Plan
Strategy 2: Increase internal capacity for maintenance and improvements
Strategy 3: Develop more opportunities for community involvement
Camp Kirby is 102 years old, and is in need of major upgrades and maintenance. We plan to invest in Camp Kirby to ensure it can continue to serve young people for another 102 years!

Strategy 3: Develop funding plan for Capital Campaign
Strategy 4: Continually analyze and improve fundraising events and strategies
The financial landscape for nonprofits is ever-changing. We plan to build financial stability in the short-term and long-term to ensure we can continue to serve young people.
Goal 4: Build and strengthen the Camp Fire Samish & Camp Kirby community
Strategy 1: Maintain and continually improve operational systems, policies, and procedures
Strategy 2: Maintain high quality youth programming through regular assessment and improvement
Strategy 3: Expand the Corporate Board of Directors
Strategy 4: Strengthen the alumni network
Strategy 5: Broaden brand awareness in Skagit and Whatcom counties
Camp Fire Samish & Camp Kirby have a long history of support from our community. We plan to engage that community to impact the young people we are serving today.
