Weekly Executive Director Message Week 5

To Our Camp Fire Family –

With cautious optimism, we are navigating towards our Day and Resident Camp season with hope that we will return to some semblance of normalcy by summer. When this occurs, the youth in our community will need Camp Fire Samish & Camp Kirby more than ever. As they heal, reconnect with their peers, and rediscover the natural world beyond them, Camp Kirby will be there to provide youth a unique sense of belonging, family, and magic.
Since its inception in 1910, Camp Fire’s three guiding principles have been those of Work, Health, and Love (WoHeLo). There is no better reminder than a global crisis of
this magnitude to keep us focused on what matters the most.

Work – Work every day to make the world a better place. Use your unique skills and talents to bring joy, compassion, beauty, and love to those around you and everything
that you do.
Health – Health is the most important thing – without it, we can’t do anything. Take care
of yourself – physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually – so that you can be your best for others.
Love – Love is the meaning behind it all – it’s the fuel that keeps us going and reminds us why we are human. Love yourself, love each other, and love the world around you.
To this end, we need your investment to help us emerge resilient, and ready to provide a safe and inclusive space for our children to experience nature, build life skills, laugh with friends, and thrive in our ever-changing world.
We appreciate your understanding, partnership and trust.
Thank you, and WoHeLo-
Erin Walker
