Update from our CEO

To Our Camp Fire Family –
Camp Fire Samish & Camp Kirby provide important programs and community services that youth need to thrive. This includes safe, inclusive spaces where they learn essential life skills, build confidence, and connect with trained, caring adults. Sadly, COVID-19 has brought most of these critical experiences to a screeching halt. Further; to honor national social distancing guidelines, we will not conduct any in-person programming or hold social gatherings through the end of April.

What are we doing to serve youth now?

  • Virtual, interactive Club meetings are held three times a week.
  • Educational and fun activities, crafts, and science experiments are posted to our leader and family Facebook group, and on the Camp Fire Samish website.
  • Virtual Spring Break Camp will roll out on Instagram next week, featuring some of the kids’ favorite Camp Kirby staff members.

What have we done to ensure that

Camp Fire Samish & Camp Kirby
will survive?

  • All Camp improvements have been sidelined.
  • As painful as it was, nine of our fifteen office staff members have been temporarily laid off and three more, have had their hours reduced.
  • We’ve instituted a spending freeze on all merchandise and supplies.
  • Our remaining staff members are researching and writing grants, and are investigating possible loans or other benefits in the recently passed stimulus package.

At this point, donations are our only source of revenue. Thank you so much to those of you who have graciously contributed already. Your generous gift is an investment in future leaders, environmental stewards, and selfless community volunteers!

As always, WoHeLo –
