WINTER SESSION

Below are the classes that are available for fall session for K-2nd grade and 3rd-8th grade.  To sign up for a class click on the Registration Button for that class. Registration closes Friday, January 17th at 11:59 pm.

Class Sizes Are Limited – Register Early –First Come First Served

Time: K-2nd Grade: Tuesday/Thursday 2:40 PM–3:30 PM; Wednesday 1:40p–2:30p
3rd – 8th Grade: Tuesday/Thursday 3:30 PM– 4:30 PM; Wednesday 2:30 PM– 3:30 PM;
Students will be dismissed directly to the program – please provide a quick, non-messy snack from home if needed.  Students will need to be picked up promptly at 2:30p/3:30p. The K-2ndgrade can ride the 3rd – 8th-grade bus home.

Costs vary depending on the class and are listed below.  A small fee has been added to each class to help cover administrative and other costs associated with this program.

The PTA has a limited number of scholarships available for eligible families.  If you would like to be considered for a scholarship, please contact  Edison-vc@be.wednet.edu. Only one class per session will be eligible for a scholarship.  Once all requests for scholarships have been submitted and reviewed, you will be contacted regarding your scholarship request.

TUESDAY CLASSES 

CLASS: Science – COST: $50

K – 2nd GRADE – 2:40 pm – 3:30 pm  REGISTER HERE

Class Description:  With a new experiment each week, students will discover their thirst for science and turn into Einstein’s before your very eyes.  Some experiments include; making slime, learning about energy, making their own water filtration system, and more.

CLASS: Get Active – COST: $50

K – 2nd GRADE – 2:40 pm – 3:30 pm  REGISTER HERE

Class Description:  Ready to get physical?  Let’s Get Active is the perfect place to let loose and get out your energy.  Participants will play favorite games such as soccer and kickball as well as learn new games.

WEDNESDAY CLASS  

  CLASS:  Electricity – COST: $50

Class Description:  Students will experiment with different ways to make and store electric charges; learn what types of materials conduct electricity, and how to build circuits and simple electromagnets.

CLASS: Star Wars LEGO(R) Storytelling Adventures – COST: $72

K – 2nd GRADE – 1:40 pm – 2:30 pm  REGISTER HERE

Class Description: In this Strategic Kids LEGO(R) class, students will help Han + Chewy overcome universal problems! Students will build and share stories from Star Wars combined with their own imaginations, prompting them to find solutions to everyday problems. This class is sure to be a wookie of time as students learn the ins and outs of storytelling; including character development, the story arc, setting and much more!

CLASS:  Babysitting Basics – COST: $50

3rd – 8th GRADE – 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm  REGISTER HERE

Class Description:  Learn all the basic skills needed to be a great babysitter! Topics include: age characteristics of children, behavior management, general infant and toddler care, play ideas, safety issues, and what do in emergency situations. Participants will discover different avenues for finding sitting jobs and working with parents to ensure success. Developing their own personal “bag of tricks” participants will gain confidence and knowledge necessary to be the best babysitter on the block!

THURSDAY CLASSES

CLASS: Art – COST: $50

Class Description:  Students will escape into a world of color and art.  Diving into a different artistic outlet each week they will be creating their own personal art gallery.

CLASS:  Survival Skills – COST: $50

K – 2nd GRADE – 2:40 pm – 3:30 pm  REGISTER HERE

Class Description:  Students will practice basic outdoor skills to prepare them for exploring the outdoors safely with confidence.  They will be provided Leave No Trace principles.  Learn all about cougars and bears in the wilderness: how to avoid encounters, proper interactions during encounters, and how to react if attacked.  Participants will discover many useful survival tips while gaining knowledge about proper wilderness preparations (I.e. packing a first aid kit, bringing plenty of water), creating natural water filtration systems and identifying animal tracks.
